Sure they are. They read on here that O/O's make $5 per mile and they can do simple math and they have some credit so why not? "Hey, all you have to do is drive anyway, right?"

What they don't know is that the truck eats $3 per mile and the tax man gets $1, that leaves one for the millionaire O/O's!

Whoa wait.. everyone doesn’t get $5/mi?

I thought each point on the Land Star was for $1/mi?

This is what I did a few years ago when I started. But I got my own numbers and ran. If you have no knowledge of how a business works than I would not do it.

Be prepared to spend a lot of money the first year and hope for the best if you are buying used. Took me about 1.5 years to get my truck running right and spent over 50K on it.

I’ve been out here for only 15 years and I just bought my first truck in November of 2020, ( I know great time right? But why not? ). That said, I’d highly recommend against doing what you have planned. I’m not saying it isn’t possible for you to make it, but it will be very unlikely. Definitely get your license and work for a company for a little why. Run their truck like your paying the note on it, keep your ears and eyes open. And if you’ve been in business before..... any kind of business, just remember that trucking isn’t like any other type of small business. I’ve met a lot of people over the years that like to tell me about how they “ used “ to be a trucker. Don’t listen to them, there is a reason they are no longer in the game.
