No..just sheer incompetence.. The email I got from my utility company they actually had the audacity to put in it that the reason the power was out was because the power plants can’t operate in that cold weather which we all know is a bunch of BS...

Texas gets 30% of their electricity from wind, the wind turbines froze up.

Actually, from what I’ve been reading, 80% to 90% of Texas power comes from NG and coal depending on seasons and power load. Texas neglected to winterize the wind turbines and other utilities.... Sweden and Canada use a lot of wind power...but they are prepared for the cold weather. Texas only planned to get a tenth of its power anyways from wind energy during the peak winter season. So, blaming wind and solar is a cop out. They expected the drop off and the ‘traditional’ energy sources failed much greater.... and they were unprepared.

Dropped at Menards in Shell Rock, Iowa, picked up a loaded trailer at the same customer going to Shelby. Dropped that and picked up another trailer going to Norfolk, Nebraska. I was beginning to wonder if I had been put on the regional board, and someone failed to inform me.

Originally they had me picking up in Columbus, Nebraska going out to Chino, but it didn’t load until tomorrow afternoon. They didn’t want to pay me a layover day to wait on the load, so now I’m going to Aurora to pick up a preloaded trailer, going to Corrine, Utah for a live unloaded Saturday morning. I’m hoping for a heavy load out of Aurora, because the winds are going to be gusting across Wyoming tomorrow.

Made it across Sherman and Elk mountain early this morning. Winds whipping pretty good, they currently have East bound closed from Sinclair probably to Laramie. I’m sure freight haulers screwed the pooch going East. I saw several guys pulling doubles going East, you either have to be stupid or have huge balls to run across Elk pulling doubles with wind gusts nearing 60mph.
