Transfer / exchange commercial truck drivers license to the States

    I was researching how to transfer my AZ license to the States and almost gave up due to the mountain of bureaucracy but lo-and-behold Florida accepts Canadian commercial truck licenses but you have to surrender it in exchange for a Florida one.

    I called them to confirm the info on their website.

    Texas is the only other State I was able to find that "might" do this. I was unable to reach them on the phone.

    Has anyone done this or have first or second hand knowledge?

    By the way, I have dual citizenship. There is residency requirement.

    A friend I drove with, who was a Cuban citizen and had a Canadian PR card, said “#### trucking in Canada” he went home to Cuba for 1 month, then went to Florida, got PR (he has family there) and they exchanged his lisc. He had to cancel his Canadian PR and Give them his Canadian lisc.

    Texas will only do this, if a company you work for transfers you there.
