Hey Rampage. I’ve turned quite a few miles one week and not a lot the next week. Which is good since I’m on salary. If you can get Hazmat and tanker endorsements. It’ll help you get more freight as well.

    RampageGNS Thanks this.

Lol, I was in Fargo 2pm yesterday. Went shopping, stayed at Stamart, unloaded, came back down to Fargo and loaded at Dakota Specialty Milling, and now in Hysham, MT

Yes I’m planning on getting both of those endorsements for sure. The reason I asked was actually exactly wondering in my head about the cpm vs salary options for pay Brian brought up. Thanks man.

Welcome. To me salary is a bit of a better option on regional, since the miles can vary greatly. You’ll also get a little more pay on regional with those endorsements.

Gotcha, makes sense the security of a paycheck does sound very appealing. My only thing is figuring out where exactly Where I’ll be training and with that when to get my hazmat done. Brian said as of now training is only in Anniston but with me not graduating until June it could change. Doing regional and based on my needs I’d be looking to relocate to somewhere around Grand Forks. I’m hoping there will be someone willing to train from Grand Forks so A.) I’m largely learning from the area I’ll be driving normally, and B.) If I get residency during training I’ll just get my hazmat done then instead of having to test for it here then retesting again in a couple months when I’d get a place in ND anyway since the Hazmat requires you to retake the test when you change your license to another state. Seems silly to go through the whole process twice in such a short span.

You get paid hourly while training and the hours have added up for me so absolutely no complaints. I love the training format. Show you can drive and have a good head on your shoulders and you'll progress rapidly.

One of the biggest challenges for me as a new driver was learning how to set up so i could back and hit a dock square. There's a local account here that requires multiple trailers to be docked every morning so i got the chance to grab trailers from a staging yard, dock them, then return them to the staging yard. I'm sure something like that sounds boring as hell to experienced drivers, but it was a God send for me and my wife as it helped prepare us for the real world.
