THE NEW COMPANY I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH SINCE DECEMBER HAS DECIDED TO HAVE US SPLIT SEAT OUR OTR TRUCKS?
We now have 4 new drivers on our account going from Columbus, GA to Kansas City Ford Plant in Mo!
its a three day run. Two NIGHTS SLEEPING IN THE TRUCKS WHICH ARE LEASED FROM RYDER!
What concerns me I only barely know on of the drivers! we original three drivers was brought down to two when one of drivers got covid (one rumor) even thou his van hasn't moved since Dec but we haven't seen him since? Now with the 2 new drivers we have to switch between the 3 trucks we have! they told one driver i know that they weren't going to be leasing a another truck a week ago, but today told me it would be next week ( but the last new driver was hired two weeks ago{because he gave his old employer two weeks notice} they had two weeks to lease another truck if what they told me today was true! but they did tell the one driver I know last week that the guy over the account wasn't going to add on a new lease truck to keep cost down! Also today the account manager for this account said he was sure the new driver would clean the truck before I get in it Wednesday?
My question shouldn't they have someone to sanitize the trucks before giving it to another driver each time? we do spend three days in this truck and two nights?
So covid is of no danger if there is no government rules covering this! what about day drivers who split seat? no sanitation at all? so the wiping down and wearing mask thing is just a comfort peace of mind thing huh?

Think of it slightly closer to "saftey first provided it doesnt cost too much" its an attitude most workers take (cost in terms of time) and employers take in terms of dollars, and politicians in terms of next cycle's election.
If saftey was actually paramount, we'd have had a full on closed border. Then everyone is locked in their homes for 2-3 weeks while the army enforced it and delivered food, then a fully opened (inside the country) economy. With full required track and trace.
Thats as feasible as banning all cars because of the accidents.
Outside of that, its all up to the individual, nothing is great about anyone's responses, from the governmental level all the way down to people being jerks and coughing all over grocery store produce.
By the numbers, covid exists and clearly is significantly worse than seasonal flu* but it certainly wasnt worth destroying an already not great economy. im looking at population level averages, the stock market people will always do well, and simply having any cdl job puts you in the top 50% of the us earning pool, but by definition, that means 50% are doing worse to significantly worse than that.
Epidemiologically speaking, the goal should have been to eradicate the disease before it spread, became capable of massive strain variation amd became endemic. We're past that because people are morons. Governments havent caught on to that fact, they cant ever admit it, because that would mean they have to admit they failed at every level.
Basic wiping things down is simple sanitation. When i did slip seating 3 years+ ago i would wipe everything down because my fellow drivers are pigs. The mask thing is more complicated because its been co-opted by political social signaling. Imagine if washing your hands was a sign of political allegiance. Except there was dye in all soap so everyone could easily see if you washed your hands or not. Does a mask do nothing? No. Does a mask solve the problem? No. Is wearing a mask when around vulnerable people polite? Well, lets just say i would take a dim view of a surgeon not wearing a mask while he dug through my insides, but it wouldnt terribly bother me if he sneezed while i was at a bar with him, but i WOULD have a problem if he constantly sneezed or coughed in my face from 1 foot away even at a bar....
* im going to just take the govt provided numbers at their word, not that i think everything is reported accurately, but if you dont trust those numbers, why should you trust yearly flu numbers, the margin of error there can just be assumed to be similar even at +/- 10%
Sorry for the ramble, im just terribly unimpressed by how terribly everyone in the world from institutions down to individuals have dealt with the past yearstanleyds88, 389BPete and GoneButNotForgotten Thank this. -

Find a new job.
I’m not into sharing a bed with some other dude, may as well both be sleeping together, just keep your hands to yourself.
To many jobs out there.
Though I wouldn’t rent a truck to have it sit for 2 weeks waiting for his notice.Aamcotrans, tommymonza and antoinefinch Thank this. -
