I have never done the oil field......but it seems to me the industry
cycles a lot. Gas prices cycle up and for a few years the industry does well.
After awhile the gas prices cycle down and the whole industry slows.
"make hay while the sun shines" comes to mind.
I wonder why so many companies can't seem to learn to adapt. When the
cycle is up they spend money they don't have to expand operations......the cycle
slows and suddenly there is another bankruptcy. -

The problem is not that there is not enough work. Its that the work is so inconsistant that it can be a real dice roll. I have been back to ND a few times and its great for the 2 or 3 months im busy, but then work always dries up and i end up scrambleing to do whatever or sitting a lot or the company goes belly up after they buy a ton of new trucks. As a result the pay goes below what i could make elsewhere more consistantly, even if it technically pays less overall.
This makes me at least a tad gunshy to go back a 5th time.shooter19802003 Thanks this. -
Most every oil hauling operation is hiring now but they’re paying lower rates than than when oil was 1/2 the price it is now - a year ago, before the COVID oil price crash.

I spent some time in Odessa Midland and yeah the money was good but WTF is it too much to ask for someone to put signs up or something so you know where the hell you’re going!! And at night you can’t see #### out there on those crappy ### roads! A lot of people getting killed out there also, but when Covid-19 hit that shut things down for me and I packed up and left.
