    Appreciate the response. I'm on the West Coast so I would probably be out of the Tulare yard. I think the options are regional or OTR with them, wouldn't mind doing OTR. Not a fan of the NE but I could adapt. Still looking at some options, I hope to make up my mind soon. I've also thought about Oakley but they only have that yard in Winter heaven so I'll probably have to fly out there. I doubt I'll see much Canada crossing as you do haha.

    Country roads can be a bit stressful I think I meant to say highways, Wouldn't mind going through different routes than I'm used to.

    The lack of accesorial pay is what sometimes turns me off to IRT, I've considered them a few times but I end up going with a Reefer outfit lol.


    What kind of tankers do you drive?

    Just the foodgrade for now. I'm looking at fuel hauling next. I drove reefer for two years and jumped that ship as soon as possible.

    I can understand that. Depending on what Reefer you were doing, it could be very painful at times. If your company has mostly frozen loads, those tend to be better.. Meat and produce, forget about it haha.

    Are you with IRT? I've got that "itch" of doing something new and I know I don't want to do flatbed. I learned to drive on tankers in the oilfield so perhaps doing food grade would be similar and a nice break from bumping docks.

    Been with them for over five years now. Chiller company than most. Prior to this I loaded milk tankers with Ruan for three years(2012 to 2015). It's all drop and hook for the most part. Nothing like cruising in and out of Kroger past the line of reefers waiting for a dock.

    I feel I've come into conflict with nobody while running tankers. Security and shipping are generally easier on you. You're treated like an employee of the plant most times. Just a far less toxic experience than the reefer/general freight van side of things.

    That is mostly what has me looking for a change. The treatment. Especially those food warehouses where you have to wait in line (standing).. All us drivers looking miserable haha..

    5 years, that is a pretty nice run, so it must be a decent place then. Good to know thank you. How are those petes? Or are you in an international? haha

    Yep. Probably the longest I've stayed at one spot.

    The short sleeper Pete's are good for the mission. Short enough wheelbase to get around tight spots, and enough room inside for the essentials.

    I'm not a "fan" of the NE either, just of the money I make out that way.

    If I left IRT and couldn't get in with Cryo or the better paying chemical haulers, I would be looking at Oakley. I would probably have gone there if they were offering a tanker position when I applied. They were pushing dry van so I passed.

    I know for a fact that they do go to Canada regularly as we share a drop yard with them in Champlain NY and I regularly see them across the border. I think those guys are on a dedicated salaried run so no clue if Canada is more lucrative for them.

    They do have nice trucks, with APUs and I have yet to see a beat up Oakley unlike the battle scarred beast I am in now so they must rotate them out regularly.
