So, this has never happened. It'll probably be wordy.....cause I'm involved. Just trying to share with others that occasionally things actually work out in this industry.

I've been sick for weeks due to complications from covid. Pretty much lost the month of March. I came off the road at the end of Feb and wasn't able to work except for one 4 day trip around the middle of the month. That nearly killed me so I came back home and crashed another week. Lots of doctors, ER visits and a cabinet full of perscriptions I kept puking up. It was so bad I couldn't even hold nausea medicine down. Lost 15 lbs. in two weeks. Anyway, I'm on the mend and I think I'll live.

So, Monday I was feeling ok and really needing to get out of the house. I bid on a good load at about $4pm headed up to the Northeast. I got it, printed off a rate con, loaded up and headed for the pick up about 70 miles away. I got there, checked in with pu # and loaded right up in about an hour. Beautiful day, sun shining, as I pull out I email the broker that I'm loaded and rolling, should be on site for delivery Tuesday morning around 1000. He responds "You mean they loaded you a day early?"

Uh oh. I pick up the phone and call him after I pull out the rate con and realize he is right. I had my DAT search set on Monday, I know I did, but his load picked Tuesday for Wednesday delivery. It was plain as day on the rate con. I'm still kind of halfway out of it, I didn't catch it and somehow the guys at the pick location didn't either or didn't care. They had it ready so they loaded me.

So, I'm about to lose another day of revenue. I have one days drive and two days to get there. Also, I'm going to a DC. You know the drill. Come early or late and you're screwed, pretty much the expectation at any DC.

I decide I've got nothing to lose. I keep rolling and am on site the next morning at 1000. I did call ahead to see if they would fit me the day before right when I realized my mistake and got the typical "well, maybe, if we aren't busy." When is a DC not busy?

I roll in the next morning and they tell me no guarantees, give us your number and we'll call you 'if' we can get you a door. 15 minutes later they call with a door. Rolled out of their parking lot empty 45 minutes later.

I couldn't believe it. The broker couldn't believe it. I guess that's my one bit of good luck for the month.

Every dog has it's day. Hopefully, you'll have some good luck this year outside of that Covid.

A broker posted a $1800 400 miles load going to Kroger DC. Picking up on Tuesday, delivering on Wednesday night. I was in a hot spot, so got it for $2800, claiming the 2 days transit and Kroger reputation.

Decided to go straight through just for the hell of it, not expecting much.
They complained a little about it being a day early, but took me in. 1.15 minutes later everything was done.
Next day broker did not sound very happy after finding out that I am already empty.

Thanks man, I appreciate the good vibes. I guess I should share this just maybe it will help someone. Covid can kill you but for most, even me, it was just a virus that took my immune system down for about a week. During that week I got Shingles. Before this I didn't even know what shingles was. Shingles is no f'n joke! Shingles and stuff like it can take hold of you when your immune system is compromised. I am, well was, a pretty healthy 46 year old a month ago. I don't smoke and can/could still run 3 or 4 miles any time I wanted.

I might have to deal with nerve problems and recurrences of this for the rest of my life. It has been a hellacious nightmare. I actually had it hit my mouth and throat. Yep, it can do that. I've never been so sick in my life. I'm coughing as I type this. Been coughing for weeks because my sinuses and throat are so sore.

Thanks for the good story. Nice to hear stuff like that in this industry which is plagued by so much negativity.

Glad you’re on the mend...doesn’t sound pleasant but glad you pulled through.

But best friend and step dad had shingles and said that they have never been that sick and never want to be again.
