UPS FEEDER VS O/O

Is that a night position?

 

A few who are skilled businessmen do. Many also lose their shirt too. The great thing about owning a business is that you are in control of your success and or failure and your income in only limited by you.

That being said UPS Feeder is about the best paying gig in the trucking industry and if you can put up with the culture is a job you retire from. Me, I wouldn't last there but for some it's a real good life.

BTW, my brother works for UPS, he can retire anytime he wants now. You can’t beat the benefits from there.

 

I would stay where you are, especially if you have decent benefits and retirement.
As an O/O you never get to clock out and your success can be contingent on many factors, including luck.
I'm an O/O because it fits my needs at this stage in my life.
My brother is a union driver with ABF and is looking at an actual retirement in a few years, which is becoming increasingly rare.

 

You'll top out at over 40hr and want to go o o. Pure insanity

 

Husband was a lease driver for a company. The pay is not as great as what you are getting now, and your future pay will be a whole lot more I think than being an o/o. Being a lease driver gives more freedom vs company, and usually a little more money. But it also gives you all the headaches of upkeep on a truck. He just leased his truck, and re-leased one in 3yrs. This way it stayed under warranty, which when broke down is a pain still, and having things that to be done, like new tires, batteries, etc are expensive.

There is a lot of sitting around waiting to be unloaded at dc's, no loads in area and having to move to another area. Dispatch did send the loads out, and I'm sure with all the companies out there now, it's a dime a dozen.

I do but pay is not why I left 10 years of seniority at Buster 9 years ago. If you are strictly concerned with pay, stay at Buster. If you tired of working nights, weekends and other things maybe consider it. It better be in the top 5% of owner op pay if you plan to do better long term. If you are at $21 you are brand new. Give it some time and stay for a career there if you like it. Any good job you don’t start at the top and Buster is a good job for most people. Not everyone, but definitely most people.
