@D.Tibbitt You’ve done it right man. Good on ya.
As a going away present I offer you this...
I saw a trainer showing a newb tarp monkey how to do things. My phone autocorrected tarp monkey into “Tarp Mommy.” I laughed for about 5 minutes.
Be well. Don’t be a stranger.

Well, now you’ve gone and done it. The OM is not pleased!
On the serious side. I hope that you have much success in your future endeavors. -
Thank you guys so much for all the kind words, actually brings tears to my eyes.... I really hate to leave trucking, it is in my blood , but its just time for me to move on.
I remeber the 2nd load i ever did on my own. Swift transportation cedar city utah, picking up insulation at the GAF facility.
Older gentlemen comes over to me and sees me struggling with my straps and asks if i need any help, i nod and say yes i could use some help... long story short we get to talking, told him id just started with swift only been out here a week... he tells me hes been out here 40+ years, over 5 million miles... ill never forget what he told me ...
"When you stop havin fun out here , its time to hang up the keys, only bad things will happen if you continue after that".
At the time i never really understood what he meant, trucking has always been fun to me but its worn off and its just not much fun anymore... so im taking that mans advice and have been planning my exit for awhile now... ill forever be grateful to him. He took the time to help a young kid that was brand new, takes a special person to do that and wish i could thank him.
ill take your guys advice and keep my cdl active in case i ever need it or want to come back to trucking again...
to answer the questions about what i will be doing .. I am going into business for myself.. Something i have been working on for a couple years now, have invested alot of time money and effort into this and feel now is the opportunity to let it ride ... the business is trading the financial markets , focusing on agriculture/commodities (wheat soybean corn cattle etc) trading the futures and options markets ... last 2 years ive made just under what ive made in gross revenue from trucking, but obviously none of the overhead or expenses that u get with trucking, so the profit is much greater and its all up to me, i sign my own dang paycheck... i feel if i can put full time energy and money into it , it is what i want to do the rest of my life .
i plan on finishing up this lease contract in the next couple months and then finishing up this gig im working in the pacific northwest since i told them id stay here for the rest of the year and dont want to leave them hanging, since they have been nothing but good to me. Im looking at october/november to make the full jump out of trucking . Gives me some time to get everything in order and mentally prepare for what im about to do, which is the reason i am saying goodbye here.
If ive learned anything from this trucking thing, is that its important to take care of the people that take care of you, help the people that help you and pay it forward when you have the opportunity.
With all that said, thank you to all of you guys on here. im not really an emotional person but u guys brought some tears to my eyes with all the kind words of encouragment and respect ...i really appreciate every single one of you and wish you all the best in this industry and in life....
P.S. if i ever need a job again, i hope u guys will page chinatown for me .. Ha ha ha
God bless you all and wish you all the best.

Well, talk about a Bombshell. Good for you. Truckings not going anywhere. It will always be here if you decide to come back. I’d say you and Cattleman are two of the hardest workers, judging by the locations you post. I’d say you gave it 110%. Sure you will also give the next venture the same. True Dedication gets it done. You definitely have a good work Ethic, and good attitude about life in general. Best wishes to you Mr D.Tibbitt.
