Bynum ??

I am not sure about the state you live in, but in most states; as an EMPLOYEE, if they require you to use certain tools or require you to use a particular service, they must provide those tools or that service free of charge. Michigan Labor Laws forbid an employer to "deduct" anything without signed "permission" for every individual deduction. You will have to check the labor laws of the State you live in.

 

yeah, i think you need to look over all the paperwork again. and as roadkill stated, if a company requires you to have tools for the job, they ought to provide them. however, i wouldn't disagree too much if they only wanted a "token deposit" of say $50.00 to make sure you return the items when you leave. but $400.00.........?? that's way too much of a deposit they have actually taken from you. (or are about to take from you). i have worked for a company that required us to have an air pressure gauge and air lines, and fan belts, and glad hand grommets, all of which probably would have cost about $150.00 tootal (back then), and they held back about $50.00 from me, and that was ok (to me). when i left, i got to keep the air pressure gauge, with no loss in my $50.00 deposit.......that was for the former "Victory Express", (now US Express) out of Medway, Ohio.

 

TOKEN DEPOSIT, no problem, but I havent seen a pipe wrench at Home Depot or Menards that comes close to $50, even when you throw in some pipe/fittings.

 

That could be, but Federal Laws dont supercede State Laws, if the State laws are more restrictive.

 

You still with Bynum? If so is it any better?

 

I know that Bynum is gone for weeks on end. I know the pay isn't all that great. But I've heard it's an "easy" driving job! I've heard they stay pretty busy all year. Do they??

I drove OTR for 13 years. I've been out of the truck for 14 months, dispatching. Driving this desk is killin me!!! I have no tank experience. I've been approved at Bynum. And a couple other chemical tank companies have also approved me, but they aren't hiring now. I don't have a problem with being gone. I'd like to get some experience pulling a tank with a company that will keep me busy. Thanks for any input!

 

I searched and read all the old threads looking for some updated info on Bynum......We have anybody on with them currently that can tell me if they are good or bad overall ??

 

Actually the wrench they speak of is about 2 foot long and for about a 5 t0 6 inch nut made out of aluminum also the elbow is made of foodgrade stainless steel.And as far as Bynum is concerned not one of the better food grade outfits around. Good Luck
