It all depends. You'll haul a lot of magnesium hydroxide if you're a liquid driver (non-hazardous and surges extremely bad in the trailer), it goes to NJ, VA, WV and MD mainly and loads out of Pittsburgh. Oils out of Karns City go all over the place, but nowhere too far, the furthest I went with oil was Chicago. If you have hazmat you'll haul caustic out of Dravosburg locally and antifreeze out of New Kensington and Ambridge.

Dry bulk is a whole nother world. They have a contract with Ardex Americas in Aliquippa and product comes in there from all over the place. Typically, the same few guys haul in there from the further states so you'll probably never have to do it. Backing in there can test your skills. Of course, I can say that about almost every place you'll deliver dry bulk to for them...

Your week will likely start out with a live load and go to wherever. Then you'll deliver and pick up preloaded trailers the rest of the week and deliver them. Will and Lauren in dispatch are very nice people, but when it came to getting me home during the week it was a real battle. I didn't complain and got walked all over, so if something is bothering you, speak up immediately.

Hey bud just an update...Had a road test last Thursday and drug screen right after, so I think I'm gtg. I'm involved in that whole ATI strike going on, so I'm going to do part time liquid for now while I see what happens. I really don't want to go back to the mill, but I'm nervous about screwing up because FTI seem like pretty good people and are giving me a chance.

They're very nice people. If you need any tips on places you're going, I've been to almost all of them. You can message me and I'll give you a crash course if you'd like. If I haven't been there I can refer you to someone who has. Biggest thing about liquid tankers is just make sure it's empty before you leave the receiver and make sure your lines are blown/cleaned out before you out them back on the trailer. The magnesium hydroxide and oils I used to haul would freeze/gel up around 40 degrees. Did they assign you a truck yet?

Naw man I haven't even been officially hired yet past the drug screen. I assure you I will be asking all kinds of questions on here. You're a truck driver; I'm not, but I want to learn. I remember most of my training from Schneider and after 25 years of being a tool and die maker and a millwright I'm not exactly dumb. I'm more concerned with where I'm going and city traffic.

They'll probably send you out with my dad to train, I think his truck number is 1575, Kenworth daycab. He taught me everything I know and he will make sure you're comfortable with everything before you go out on your own.

That would be amazing! You can't imagine how much that put my mind at ease. I made for myself the easiest job in the world, and now I'm stepping into the hardest job in the world. Whether your dad trains me or not, I don't want to let anyone down.

Was gonna say, my birthday is 08/15/75. If you're a numbers driven person...that's kinda prophetic lol.

Yeah...so the long story told short is...FTI hired me and I felt a bit rushed. I met your Dad at 4am like I was supposed to and told him I wasn't making that run that morning. I think I screwed up...Your old man is an awesome guy, Not close to the reaction I expected. The only reason I didn't go is I wasn't wearing boots. I feel so bad, and I hope they give me another chance.
