Why can’t you haul 40,000 lbs?

Guessing he’s one of those that claims it’s to hard on his truck and looses fuel mileage.

That's me. I get mad as Hell whenever the boss loads more than 39k. Right now I got 43.6k of lima beans going to sc. But I guess that's why he's the boss and I'm the driver

Hauling grain has been steady. Was actually my best year ever too.

Let me get this straight. He lowered your rate, you stayed loyal, and he has not raised it back up during the highest rates in modern history? Yeah, he sounds SUPER loyal to you too. You are subsidizing his shipping costs. That’s not loyalty.

I never understood the weight thing either. You would rather make zero per mile because you don’t want to haul over 40k? Who freakin cares what it weighs?

Your trucking in fear right now and it’s costing you dearly.

Our rates went down because of the oral agreement that sealed the rate with our customer. The rates were supposed to be back up.
And there are no backhaul loads for our lane unless it's more than 40 K load. Since I have an agreement with the customer, I am kind of stuck with the lane I run. So, while some are happy, the shutdowns did change things for me. I survived those months with total shutdowns because of the predictability. Imagine you getting a truck and a trailer, paying the insurance for the first year to have everything shut down for you for a couple of months. I didn't sink. I plan to pay most of my loans in a year or so. So, I am paying off. It's just I'm not profiting like I used to and haul back empty.

Words mean nothing unless they are on paper with signatures.

Who cares what the loads coming back weigh. If they work time wise then load them and make money coming back. Sounds like you need to quit complaining like a typical employee and start managing your freakin business.

I wanted to know if there are others who are affected for a longer period of time. But it seems most aren't.

    Refrigerated food

The year of my trailer is 2014. I am not hauling more than 38,000lbs though. Bless ones who do that.
