I leased a truck and got great miles. Stayed rolling until the clutch went out early one morning in Sacramento. It was a walk away lease so I bailed, KLLM didn’t charge me for the clutch an I switched to company. I lost all the great lanes I had; CA to NJ and started getting a lot of short ones. Then I get stuck playing musical trailers and go-between to save freight, swapping out on my 10hr. They’re just selling trucks now. They could sale one truck a couple of time over in it’s life span. But on a walk away lease both driver and company could benefit. Just hit and quit it I’m thinking. Always got the feeling they were trying to shoe me out the door to bigger and better things anyway. I gave them their year and then some.

Truck brakes down
What awfully advice!
Why didn’t you fix the transmission & keep trucking? -
Oh I’m not offering any advice. I only have three years going for me and one of those was back in 98. That was my experience in the lease game. The clutch was a 5.000 job. They had to drop the tranny. But I was paying 700 a week and just burned out on all the running. I quite to find a better opportunity, but before that could happen I got in a 4 wheeler altercation, tweaked my neck. I had to sort all that at. Clearly I wasn’t at fault. They are crazy. I’m entertaining the idea of going back out.

$5000 for a clutch? Freightliner? ... A new clutch was only $2300 on my International.

The rest was the expense for dropping the transmission to get at the clutch. That’s the news the had to break to me. But I had already been shut down too many times before. I was at Dogget in Laredo for a week because a camper parked next to me at the rest area just hooked it right, right out of his spot and drug it down my trailer and knocked out my mirror. I had a DANA tanker back straight into my passenger side fender knocking it down in broad daylight. Had
to take care of a klems trailers a few times, parked at Utility. Chicago I’m setting at a truck stop, look in my mirror and reefer fuel is spraying out like a water hose.
All over the ground. It wasn’t a major truck stop, just dirt and gravel, not many other truckers around luckily. -
transmissions always have to get dropped to replace the clutch.p608 Thanks this. -
