Hi everyone, Wondering what peoples opinions are of the 505HP DD15 engines? I’m looking at a 2017. I don’t haul heavy, but this truck looks like it has been well maintained by the owner. Wondering if Its any more problematic or less problematic than another engine. Thank you

I own 2 in western stars. one has 872k
The other 316k
No real issues, I am very proactive on maintenance and do not take chances I change parts before life cycle of said part is up. But neither has ever broke down or given me an issue.
Neither truck gets idled for very long
Def filter gets changed yearly, sensors in one boxes get pulled yearly and cleaned
And coolant gets dumped at 300k
And coolant pumped changed at 300k
Mostly due to a lack of coolant filters on
Newer DD15.
They are a good engine Life time average on one truck is 7.25 and my truck is 7.31 mpg with 4% idle time.Dave_in_AZ and AlexD13 Thank this. -
