Not as much of a problem as it would be if it was the shipper's responsibility to secure it and not my responsibility

Would a visibly improperly secured load be a reason to reject a trailer? I rejected a loaded trailer that had cross member damage. Should’ve never been loaded to begin with. They had taped over it on the outside but I always check those spots more thoroughly. Supposedly they were going to put trl oos and cross dock the load but for all I know they could’ve found a different idiot to pull it.

If it is the shipper's responsiblity to secure the freight on the trailer, then it would not be the driver's place to reject the trailer for being improperly secured. If it is the shipper's responsibility to secure the freight on the trailer, then if the shipper says that the freight is secured properly, that would be the shipper's call, not the driver's.

It may be the shippers responsibility to secure the load because some choose to to do so as part of their service procedures. BUT YOU STILL have the responsibility to make sure it stays secured. You still have to do the routine stops and checks to tighten or add extra securement if needed.

    1. You're living in a dream world.
    2. No way you're serious, and no way this isn't a troll post.

It's not "extra" work. It's work that comes with the job. Doing it because not everyone can (or in you case unwilling) is part of the allure.

The benefits are burning more calories, and doing something most can't do. You already stated you're uninterested in both.

Allow me to sate your curiosity - burn calories, and do something not everyone can do.

Being lazy is bad enough, but being scared of responsibility too? The freight is still off the trailer, regardless of whose responsibility it is. Just in this case, you were unwilling to fix a problem because it's not "your problem".

I don't mean offense to anyone here, but your mentality is exactly how I view every door slammer clogging up the interstate today. Just another drone going from A to B. Unwilling to go the extra mile.

Would you do it for an extra 500$?
(Thats not typical, regular tarp fee is about 100$, but i had a 75 foot load that paid me that, 3 hrs, 500$, ill go for that)

I just love the hours. And that feeling I get pulling into Cape Canaveral with a 15` wide load from California.

A sense of accomplishment a van driver will never know.
