I work with a small carrier who hauls our trailers. Today we are finding out that one of this carrier's company drivers disconnected his ELD and disabled all tracking to his truck and our trailer and went AWOL. To our knowledge he still has plates on the equipment. How would we go about reporting this and who do we need to report it to? Do we need contact our DOT, local police?
The carrier did not make us aware of this until today but it sounds like this may have been ongoing for a week so honestly it could be anywhere at this point.

Start with reporting it a/wall at the last place the truck was sending out sig. The law will send out the hot truck report all over the USA? and maybe if the truck is still in 1 piece they will find it, calling your Insurance. co. may help if you have full coverage??
NavigatorWife and flood Thank this. -
baha and NavigatorWife Thank this.

Step one is report it stolen yourself. I wouldn't wait for the carrier to do it. I'd go to the state police. Also let your insurance company know.
What happens next depends on what the relationship is between you and this carrier who hauls your trailers? Are they leasing trailers form you? You have a contract?NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

Call your state police, if they can’t or won’t take a report, than they will tell you who to call. -
That’s why you should always stay attend to your truck especially if you have it running.
If you have the pictures of the license plate, the face and other identification to the person who stole the truck. Then report it to the police station will action be handle.
Good luck! -
