    Hello everyone!
I am very interested in starting a career in trucking. Just had a few questions if anyone could please help me out....
I'd like to just study for the CDL test on my own and rent a truck for the test. That's obviously the cheaper way to go. Will I have a tough time finding my first job if I go that route? Do I need to just break down and go to trucking school?
If school is the best route to go, can anyone recommend a good place to apply that pays for the school? I don't mind signing a contract for a year or so if that's what I need to do.
I live on the west coast of Florida by the way if anyone can recommend a company that is good for newbies.
    Thank you all!!!

    Chinatown and austinmike Thank this.

You don't have to get your schooling from a company. If you're poor, you can get a government grant to get your training at a CDL school and then pick your starter company.

Are you near Tampa or where?
Quickest way is to attend school, either Tech School, Community College, trucking company school.

North Port is a good location.
I'll recommend 3 trucking company schools and can probably start within 7 - 14 days and have the cdl in 22 days or so. Be prepared for hair follicle drug test.

FFE website may not show the Burns Harbor, Indiana school, but it's there, so ask the recruiter about that.
