How many drivers believe that most cmv enforcement is a money grab?

How many drivers jave shared stories about a trooper being a dill hole on a power trip?

We have a policing problem in this country - a problem that disproportionately impacts poor people and people of color.

The poor and people of color commit a disproportionate amount of crime. Cops aren’t the problem, they’re just doing their job the best that they can. Aim higher if you really want to change things up.

Actually we don't know that. What we know is officers arrest blacks more on a per capita basis. Is it because that group commits more crimes, or is it because the cops arrest that group more often when they let others go for the same crime?
My feeling is a bit of both weighted to more crimes committed. But we don't "know" that as there is no data on the number of crimes committed the officer lets the person go without charge.

Have a friend, he is a few years older than me, we lived on the same street, went to the same schools.
    He went into law enforcement.
Once during a conversation we had, he told me, his number one job was that everyone he interacted with, was to find a way to arrest and jail them.

I have a couple family members in law enforcement and they tell me something completely different. The last thing they wanna do is be forced to arrest someone and take them to jail, they attempt to make that a last resort.

Having worked in the field I call complete BS. Most individuals have a significant history before they work up to felonies worth arresting them for. The average felon comes from a background where family has also been incarcerated. Obviously white collar crime is a different set of statistics, but when it comes to drugs/violence there's a history.

I guess the way way to look at the statistics is look at the level of 911 calls or reports of crime in various communities with differing ethnic residents.
To get the statistics of reports of crime and not look at actual arrests.

Or perhaps look at arrests in places that have a black police chief , black mayor, black city council etc.
Which would be every major city like Chicago Detroit Atlanta Memphis St. Louis etc .
All those places have very high violent crime rates. And almost all of it is committed by young black males between the age of 14 and 40.
That group or people is less than 2% of the overall US population, yet commits right at 50% of the violent crime in the US.
And I believe it all goes back to family , education and culture.
Almost all of the people who commit violent crimes were raised in a home with no father, horrible schools and near zero chance at a decent education.

what we do know for certain is that getting into a physical confrontation with a police officer is not going to end well for you.
Makes no difference what ethnicity your ancestors are. If you get into a fight with a cop, you will lose that fight. And you may lose your life.

why is getting into the back seat of the cop car so difficult for certain groups of people ?
Your lawyer can deal with the wrongful arrest easy enough.

As zvar pointed out, we don't have a lot of data, but what data there is doesn't support your thesis.

Wage theft is more common and involves more money than shop lifting every year. How many Walmart managers have been arrested for wage theft? How many shop lifters has walmart prosecuted to the full extent of the law (or beyond)?

We know that black people get pulled over more than white people - during daylight hours. Once darkness falls, the numbers change to reflect population size.

We know that black people get searched more than white people, but when searched a white person is more likely to have contraband.

We know that black people get approached by cops for petty things more than white poeple, and are significantly more likely to leave the interaction with a citation.

In Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, 89% of Those Arrested for Jaywalking Are Black

We know that official police accounts often differ greatly from bystander statements and video evidence. We know that police departments resisted body cams and resist sharing the video with defense lawyers.

We know that DAs drag their heals during discovery and without legal consul the deck is stacked in the Da's favor. Often the cost of competent consul is more detrimental to a person than pleaing out to a short jail sentance - even when the accused is innocent.

And finally we know that police are loath to release the data they ALREADY compile. Why do they feel a need to hide this?
