Was it Del Monte? I was there once. Awful.

Yep, Del Monte Fresh. Picked up 43000+ lbs of 'nanners. Heaviest load of monkey chow I have hauled so far...and about as heavy as I can haul. With 3/8 tanks of fuel I was 78,820

I’m suddenly reminded of a great movie line from Beverly Hills Cop.

“I’ll just bet you’re the pride of your department”.

Well, this Junk-liner is gonna drive me insane...for several days, regardless of the outside temp, the opt idle acted up. Got it in the shop this morning, and it didn't miss a beat. It started and ran just like it should a half dozen times. They did do a B service really early (was more than 5000 miles early) but they said my primary fuel filter might not have lasted that long before needing changed anyway, so they just did the service early. (Deland knew about it before I did, they called me while I was in the drivers room wondering about how many other issues besides my B service I had that could cause more breakdown time...I said what B service..I wasn't close enough (I thought at the time). Told her about the opt idle issue and the shifting issues...but knew nothing about any service work being done.). Already warned the assistant manager down there, I won't take it in for the opti idle issue again until it quits completely. I am headed to Lowes to buy some PVC, and I will cut a piece long enough that it will hold enough pressure on the throttle to allow it to idle all night...and I will just have to deal with his nagging about excessive idle time. NEVER EVER again will I drive a Freightliner unless it has a stick thru the floor and an APU.

Lol better buy your own shaker my friend, it’s hard to find a fleet that’s buying manuals these days.

The owner op who parks next to me on hometime has a new Cascadia with a 13 spd; he had to custom order it and absolutely loves it. Hauls light dry van freight and kills it on the MPG front running wide open...

Would just be easier to find a company with non-Freightliner equipment...I owned my own for a while, but with all the new emissions, they are just to expensive to repair, and anything pre-emission would be too warn out.

Today I woke up sweating. Was 98 out and even tho comfort mode was on idle never started. Thankfully the temp outside was hot enough that it just idled without turning off.

The truck ran fine for the shop. They left me paperwork on how to use the new system (which I already know how to use because....it isn't that technical)...hooked to my trailer, sent Deland the ''out of the shop, but it ain't fixed" message. Was sent my next load, shop went home...and while I was talking to the wife, it decided to...not restart. It was 79 on the dash's outside thermometer, 77 and climbing on my elcheapo thermometer I have hanging in my bunk. Restarted it like I have been doing, it cooled down, shut off, and didn't restart. F'it...I decided that I am going to just jury rig the throttle pedals arm so it doesn't return to it's normal idle position, and just tell Deland to pound sand when they ##### about idle time. I have had all of this piece of #### I can take.

Truck issues aside @supersnackbar how would you say your experience has been at Shaffer? If rewriting history you never had a truck problem, what are your thoughts on your experience, your runs, and your outlook on the company?
