No, that would be the visual jaw and fifth wheel gap check. You can tug a trailer, and still drop it because it is high hooked.

Or you could do a tug test have it pass and the 5th wheel falls off the frame when you take a turn 20210331_103941.jpg ....ask me how i know

I think you just pushed the 5th wheel eject button, and don't want to fess up.

Seen plenty pass a visual jaw inspection and unlatch as soon as power was applied. Your looking and testing for everything. Using a tug test to check foundation brakes is pointless.

lol nope, there was a stress fracture in one of the main pins due to a shoddy repair from before i owned it. Whole thing came loose and released the jaws after the pin wasnt there anymore. I wish it was a 5th wheel eject button, wouldnt have cost as much as a new 5th wheel.

    Farmerbob1 and tlalokay Thank this.

I do one every beginning of a tour, and numerous walk arounds, tire thumps,
chain checks per day. If my equipment is parked unattended in a public area, I check 5th wheel before I get into the cab.
