When someone walks up to you at the C store to tell you why they need $5.37 so he can make it home to be with his hospitalized wife....

When some butterball of a guy with zero callous on his hands starts telling stories of espionage....

When the yardboy at the shipper has a chip on his shoulder...

When you pull up to the pickup and it's a veritable thoroughfare for multiple companies sharing warehouse space and 50+ trucks coming in and out of the gate and in and out of docks. But you notice signage all over the streets within 1 mile of the gate saying: "No Parking. Tow Away Zone".

You're "on time" and try to check in with the "security" and they take your info and then say: "There's no parking inside the yard. You have to park on the street."

When you ask about a time frame for getting a door, they then say: "We will call you."

Never been back to Laredo, Texas...

Or the president appoints to run the national DOT the former mayor of a town in Indiana that had a rather large pot hole problem.

The Cop was pretty cool about it and just started shaking his head as pulled up and saw a car hauler with two cars unloaded on the side of the street and me chaining down the suspect stolen pickup that I had a key for lol.
I talked with the cop for ten minutes or so and he went on to tell me the residents there stand on their lawns along with their children and give them the middle finger and then spit on them as they pass by.
Then he said that’s how they treat us and they they call us for this ########!!
He also said he wondered if they even really believed there was someone stealing a car but rather trying to screw with the police to waste their time or to force a negative encounter with an innocent person and make them look bad?
I said to the cop “you know if you believed that I had actually stolen a car and rolled up yelling for me to get on the ground I would have dropped my winch bar and got on the ground.”
“ I WOULD NOT have started grasping my winch bar in a threatening manner, give him a bunch of lip and then refuse to comply with his directions.”
All pretty simple concepts in my book...

We're going to have to send you to doorslammer school! You're first response to any local cop should be "I'm engaged in interstate commerce, if you continue to interfere with my attempt to continue my duties, I shall be forced to call the U. S. Marshalls (sic )"

Unless you are sure they are former military. In that case your stories of your time as a special operator are invaluable.

At least that's what the guys at the lunch counter say...

    Lol
    Thanks for the advice.
I’ll have to remember those phrases.
I don’t think I’ll need them though where I’m delivering in Miami.
You could literally steel a car down there and people won’t even look up from scrolling their cell phones...

It's also of utmost importance that the cop understands that YOU pay their salary..... even.....nay ESPECIALLY if you live clear across the country from where that conversation is taking place.
