Assuming that farm pickup drivers dont know how to drive is very much a false assumption. I know quite a few that are likely some of the very best drivers on the road. I've seen some OTR drivers come in here and wash right out, mainly cant handle driving in ALL conditions, and I know of some that are doing well hauling milk.

Then you're doing it right; you're home every day and that's what you want.
Some of us make, what seems like sacrifices to others, decisions such as OTR to keep healthy mentally. We need that solitude in our lives and our wives understand and support that.

This reminds me of when i worked at hell-mart to earn my CDL. Had a lady come in one time when we were out of milk due to a truck having its reefer go bad and ruin the entire load. She was demanding we gonin the back and make more milk because she KNEW we make everything here. Sadly a lot of people literally do think the products magically grow or are made in the back room.

I lost count of the number of times someone shrieked at me to go to the back and get something even if i knew for a fact we were out. So glad those days are behind me. Though now i hear a lot of idiots in my area wanting to ban delivery via semi trucks because to directly quote one guy who got in my face after i had to block traffic to get into a dock "we are uneducated pigs who are too stupid to get a REAL job and get in everyones way and kill inocent people and should be arrested for it"

My cousin in law works for bugman, hauling milk as well. My brother in law is a Werner washout and he was picking on him for hauling milk. I told him he should tell him to shove it

A million miles of holding a steering wheel for a starter company doesn't make anyone an expert on real trucking. ;)

I once hauled a load 600 miles up to Minnesota in one day, than sat for 40 hours at $19 an hour watching tv and cooking spectacular meals while my load was being rejected because the plant was full.

Than hauled the rejected load 600 miles back in one day and sat for another 10 hours getting unloaded.

Nice paycheck for doing nothing all week.

    Ok Sorry I misread that.

Yea if I had kept running as hard as my company started me out at I would have easily grossed 85 thousand.

Once I learned that I can run any way I want I chose the lazy low miles high accessory pay for layovers and out of the way drop and hooks .

But even running as hard as they had me going it was still cake walk compared to what a lot of these drivers endure working for these Mega companies.

You didn't even make a bowl of cereal and use any of the milk? What a waste!
