I'll be light, and I like to be a tourist trucker lol. Red Bluff is my destination, and it's 70 or so miles shorter running that vs 80 to 5.

Just west of Chester @ the 89 intersection and east of Payne's Creek Rd shows checkered with California legal length.

Ever wake up with idea/solution to an issue?

I have the large style door on my sleeper on the passenger side. It popped into my head that I can just make a frame to hold a window unit with the door open. I can get a piece of plexiglass and paint it white to cover the excess opening so its all sealed off.

Dang, I might just be a genius. :D

I'm gonna take that to mean persistent. I like persistent.
Or maybe 'not usually too retarded'? That works too. I can get away with that here at least where I get to select how much truly retarded I divulge..lololol

Check out Traverse dam or those 2 puddles connected to it if you wanna run boats.

Thanks. Water quality looks wayyy better then the typical Alberta lake (yuck).
It's a little far so I'll be checking it out on my motorcycle this summer.
There sure is beautiful landscapes in the ole dry prairie if you keep a lookout.

I checked the STAA route map from CAL TRANS/DOT....CA Truck Network Maps | Caltrans .... hope you decided against the route if you are over 65 ft length bumper to bumper. 2 sections are riddled with switch backs (which could make it 45 ft king pin to forward rear axle....my map wasn't that detailed below 65ft sections.

Out of Susanville, if your over 65, you can run a few short sections. After that they are restricted to 65 ft.
Where 44 and 89 connect, going north is not restricted. Then that takes you away from your destination. Red Bluff is not an easy choice. One of those “ you can’t get there from here” places.

Yeah, it just sucks to have to drive all the way down to Sacramento, since I can't cut across 20 either. I came down from Crater Lake through Klamath Falls last time I was out that way before cutting back east, and it's beautiful country.

lol, yep. I looked at 44 to 299 too, but figuring time and miles, I'd be ahead to just be a steering wheel holder and run 80 to 5. I went as far as looking for a business in the middle of 36 to "schedule a pickup", but no such luck lol, nothing much out there besides campgrounds.

It's much more common for me to wake up to an issue rather than a solution.
