I recently took a ride in 2003 t600 with an Eaton semi automatic.
I love it. Compared to my 2016 with the auto shift it’s like butter taking off with that clutch. Now I really want this set up and it’s got me curious why they stopped making em like that with the clutch to take off and stop.
Does it cause problems vs the regular automatic?
Thanks for reading.

The spacer between the seat and the stearing wheel is the problem.
Most new entrants to the job have never driven a standard shift and really have no desire to learn. Just much easier for fleets and schools to put a student in an automated shift truck. Then the schools get to charge more to remove the restriction from the license for the few that need it.John Bertucci, Kyle G. and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
I have a 2016 Eaton Ultrashift MXP 18 speed. It never shifted the way I expected, it hesitated finding gears, especially 9th, sometimes it would give up and give a data erratic error.
I just got it back last week after getting a new computer on the transmission. Night and day difference. All week it shifted smooth, never hesitated, skipped gears when it was convenient. It’s like a whole new truck.John Bertucci and Tug Toy Thank this. -

Something to keep in mind is the software in the trans computer gets updates just like the engine computer.
The 2011 I picked up in 2014 had never had the trans updates done until I took it to a dealer for a couple of warranty/recall things. I asked them to look at the trans because I was ready to take the truck back because of the trans and how poorly it worked. They gave me a call and asked which of 3 profiles I wanted cause they would not let it out of the shop with the old one. -
