Hello! I have a 2008 Frieghtliner Century and it suddenly started leaving black ash all over the place under my hood and even getting inside my cab . I’ve checked the whole exhaust system and don’t see any breaks or cracks. It’s gotten bad that I wiped my face and had black particles all over the towel I used . Any help finding what it could be is appreciated.

Snap the throttle a could of times and watch to see if the black ash is coming out the top of the exhaust stack.
slow.rider Thanks this. -
Does it have a DPF system? Could be a bad seal there maybe.

I assume you checked the manifold too?

Farmtractor9900, singlescrewshaker, skallagrime and 1 other person Thank this. -
My money is on the manifold, except that that kind of volume (to be entering cab too) it should just be obvious
Ignore blue tape, was trying to keep some of the stuff i was cleaning out of the block
Manifold stud gone, turbo started to go

When the fan clutch went bad I had tiny little black particles everywhere under the hood. It wasn't ash but could look like it. Just a thought.
