    Obviously insurance rates and scarcity of trailers could be contributing to some hesitancy from jumping into the water full bore right now. I never personally saw the need for leasing onto another company's authority, but to each their own as they say.

    As for Bob, with that guy's determination and work ethic, he could of doubled (maybe tripled) his income this past year if he would of just jumped off of the Crete/Shaffer ship.

    My guys are making at the least 80,000 and my top earner is going to be over 100,000 gross this year as a company driver so I’m passing it along for sure. Everybody is winning right now. In fact I may raise pay yet again. This last truck to fill is very stubborn and I have two more coming end of August.

    Lack of equipment and lack of drivers plus record freight equals record rates. Between covid and Trump decreasing all kinds of immigration both legal and illegal, there is a lot less flow of warm bodies available.

    When unemployment pays 20 to 30 per hour depending on where you are, it’s hard to get people off the couch. And the best guys are already working.

    Haha yep. I always dread the down turn because you know there is a good 2 tough years worth of row to hoe.

    Definitely some curious times. I delivered to a DC Wednesday that I’ve been going to since the late 90’s. Until a few months ago it was all company trucks, then they started using small local companies for power only. Now they have a hand full of JB Hunt and US express trucks parked around back. There was 50+ company trucks parked,I know some were on time off.
    Today I got a email from another DC looking to use my equipment for local store deliveries. I’m going to have to think on that for awhile.

    Sounds like banks are getting a little iffy when it comes to trucks. Rutherford had a caller today who was initially preapproved, had a decent credit score and 20% down, and then when it came time to do the deal nobody would loan him the money. And he wasn’t a new owner operator.

    I decided to go trucking and be gone for a few weeks. I fell into a “name your rate” deal because they’re short fertilizer trucks out west. I’m just out enjoying the mountains.

    . Not trying to be negative but 80K without benefits is no big yank. It’s better than a lot but it’s a long way from the top shelf. Just an honest opinion from a job hopper.
