I've tested in a couple different vehicles and as a base station. Only squeals on transmit on ch 19. Anybody got a line on this?

Do you have talk back on? I was wondering if it might be feeding back a little bit?

I don't think TalkBack was on I'll check it out when I return home this evening. I can't remember if it's possible to customize one channel with Talkback or not I'll have to look at that

I've never been around an Anytone 6666 but I've heard of them. I think Hardrive did a video of a 74 mile mobile to mobile transmission and the guy on the road had an Anytone 6666.
Hardrive had his favorite Stryker 955.

I didn't know but that radio packs some decent power right out of the box.

While searching for its specs I found this nice window shopping CB site for truckers or hell anyone else that wants a CB. LOL!

Yeah I have been running my 655 (basically the same as the 955 minus SSB) until I figure out the Anytone problem. I also have a Northpoint NT-3-HP export radio I can use

Oh God how embarrassing. I discovered that my base station power supply voltage was bumped down to ~12.5 or 13.0 volts. I guess the radio needs a bit more. I then tested the radio in a couple of my 4-wheelers, still had squeal. Guess why. When I kicked my base station power supply back up into the 14+ area, I was ok.

Glad you found it! Sometimes we all get lucky now and then and its something simple.

I was plagued with intermitent high SWR for several weeks every time Id' pull on the scales to weigh my rock in a couple of places. But then finally my radio quit transmitting completely with SRW off the scale on my Stryker 955 SWR meter.
I plugged my backup radio in and still no go I thought it was working for a little while because it doesn't give me any SWR altert but soon found out no one was hearing me.

After a day of that misery later that evening I ohmed out my coax and it checked out fine and in frustration I stared up at my antenna and noticed that the set screw in the antenna was gone. Well I'll be.......
I reached up and sure enough I could pull the whip right out of its slot.

The next problem was finding the right set screw to replace it with. What size was it?
I could not find that info anywhere and I had to haul rock again next morning where I needed to converse with the scale house and loaders.
Morning came and I still had nothing so at the last minute I grabbed a tiny strip of tin foil and wrapped one layer around it. That was too much to jam down in the hole so I trimmed it to where it went about 1/3 of the way around and left some hanging over the end to get started with. I jammed it in and it worked until I found the correct thread size and got a set screw from tractor supply. It was an 8/32 and I got the last one they had.:):biggrin_25520:Coolio!

Are you saying that when you put the anytone radio in the two 4x4's, the motors were turned off?

I should have said "passenger cars". I'm thinking now I may have run this radio in a passenger car a while back and if memory serves, it ran ok. If it ran ok in a passenger car then, why not now? In any event its running fine now on 14.1v, so I'll keep an eye on it
