I got my first class 1 inspection, I got two violations. The Dot officer looked at me and said “no big deal”, that was screwed up.! come find out it’s a huge deal!!! “Just get it fixed when ever your at your home shop.” I got a Clamp or Roto type brake out of adjustment ticket and CMV manufactured after 10/19/94 has automatic air brake adjustment system that fails to compensate for wear Ticket. How can I get two violation for the same thing, worded differently. Can one even happen with out the other? 8 points together.! My driving carriers shot.

Did you get an actual ticket? A citation? If so you can go to court and fight it. If you just got an inspection form listing the two violations, you can try to DataQ it. Not much else you can do.

    Overreact much?
Go get it fixed and continue on with life. Nothing is going to happen to your career. Likely nothing is even going to be mentioned by your employer either.

8 points is nothing. You're career is not ended lol.

Sounds like you have a bad slack adjuster. Like $200 at any shop or TA.

We do anuals every 120 days that helps to head those type of gripes off before the DOT man finds them.

You have 2 seperate issues so got 2 seperate violations... It just happens that they both have the same cause.

Issue 1: Brake out of adjustment.

Issue 2: slack adjuster that doesn't adjust.

Problem: slack adjuster is wore out, broke or otherwise inoperable.

Solution: a couple hundred dollars and a couple hours at a service facility.

As the DOT said.... "No big deal"... It's not like you got put OOS.

It's only 8 points. The points will fall eventually. Get your truck checked out, clean it up, and do better. That's all. Where'd you get inspected?

I wonder if this driver is equating CSA points to drivers license points like one gets for getting a speeding ticket???

If so OP... They are not the same or even remotely close to the same. 8 points is nothing to sweat.

Isn't the pre-trip the trip to the restroom before you leave on the road?
