What would you do?

    Perhaps a bad day, but come on, hooking up a truck to a trailer is one of the most basic and important things. I "high hooked" a wagon,,,ONCE, and never again,,after that,if I had a sleeper, I always looked to make sure. You want to babysit these drivers, sorry, doesn't pay enough, let the boss handle it. After all, they hired them in the 1st place.

    Some people learn slower than others. And, speaking as the boss, a driver that's trying to do the right thing and having problems usually just needs a little more instruction.
    Like I said, it usually depends on the driver's attitude. A lot depends on what the driver does after he makes the mistake.
    I've seen drivers that were slow to learn but turned out to be good employees.

    Id try different things, im not sure but, I realize not everyone learns at the same level. Maybe someone just has a rough month or whatever the case may be, but, I wouldn't dare drive out and watch him struggle.

    The root of the whole problem here is that there is a yard dog so sick and twisted that he's willing to drop those trailers too high. Even on rainy Mondays.

    I’d help and show him how a lazy ####### like me hooks up.
    If it doesn’t hit the ramp part of the fifth wheel it’s to high. When you feel it hit and start to slide up then you know you can drop the back, back up till it’s 3-6inches from the jaws. Lift suspensions wait till it’s al the way up and then back up.
    1.)You’ll NEVER high hook like this
    2.)My 5th wheel rarely needs greased because I’m not scraping it off
    3.)I rarely have to struggle with landing gear because it’s completely off the ground doing it like this.

    If you’re smart while waiting for bags to inflate you can hook up air lines and get ready to slide the tandems (just don’t forget to actually hook lol) that’s also why landing legs are the LAST thing you raise

    I could swear sometimes that yard dog was pissed off by an XYZ Company Driver at some point, so he takes the extra time to crank the legs down on the XYZ Company trailers! Lol

    One of the perks of being a female driver is that no one cares for my opinion. So I just keep to myself and enjoy the show.

    We here at TTR are needing a truck and trailer combo advertising for the forum and with a custom paint job, probably around 250-275k should work, we’re so proud you’re going to help us out in this endeavor.
    We will have the painter put your name on the trailer in very tiny lettering.

    I can do it cheaper than that. I have two little girls that love to finger paint. They will do an awesome custom paint job for you at no charge.

    That's definitely a thing. I've had a trailer dropped so high that it was obvious just driving towards it and seeing it compared to the other trailers in the row. Backed up to it and it was easily 4-5 inches higher than my 5th wheel. I keep a couple wooden blocks under my bunk so I was able to take some weight off the landing gear but it was still a struggle.

    When I finally got hooked I noticed the yard guy parked off to the side watching me. I'm convinced he intentionally dropped it that high. I'm glad I didn't notice him before and ask for his help. Hopefully I deprived him of the satisfaction of telling me no.
