So you think it's ok for brokers to be making upwards of 50 percent of loads and even double and triple brokering to skim more off the top ? Especially when they don't have fluctuating overhead like trucks
Who is getting all this extra money for shipping into Canada?

I noticed that you didn't answer any of my questions so I am guessing you don't want to be regulated by the same rules you want load brokers to be.dunchues, Magoo1968 and Phantom Trucker Thank this. -
The answer lies in transparency. One side of the political spectrum stands firm on minimal government involvement, while the other welcomes oversight and regulation. Those two camps are obviously hard to reconcile. My suggestion is to increase market transparency, so that the driver of the transport vessel is aware of the charges placed by the broker. In result both parties have an opportunity to bid/charge accordingly. This method should in theory balance both income streams between them and also without government oversight. The driver can charge for transport based on the income of the broker, and etc.
Another thing to keep in mind, business is like playing sport. Yes there is competition, but without rules and adherence to those rules, the game falls apart. -
Transparency goes both the ways, if brokers have to disclose their profit on a load we would have to disclose our cost.
Their profit is none of my business and mine is none of theirs.
If you don't like the rate being offered don't haul the load. If they won't come up to my rate then they can take a chance with who ever will haul it for their rate.Phantom Trucker Thanks this. -

Perhaps the regulation should be anyone starting a business has to have a degree in business or some formal business training. -
Used to be some brokers would check authorities and poor performance in safety would be a no go.. if brokers who use these poor performing companies had some responsibility when they kill or injure people on the road I’d bet the fly by nights up here in Canada would disappear therefore improving rates. Wild Wild West is a great description btw.

Last company I worked with I was contacted for percentages loads. I know for a fact they skimmed 3000 dollars of the top of the rate, gave me the rate amd the took there percentage off. In my contract it says I get ## percent of what the load pays, not what you think it should pay.how is that in any way shape or form right and even justified?
Alot of the problem is these people only see the rates and think it's to much for a trucker to make, yet they do see the over head. Anytime e a truck goes in the shop it's minimum 1000 bucks of your lucky. -
