Hey what’s going on guys,
I’m still new to trucking as an owner operator, and I was wondering if booking long distant loads are worth it. Saw a load that was 891 miles, pick up on Wednesday and drop off on Friday. The pay is $2800, after all expenses I profit $1500. I feel like I’m missing out opportunities to grab more loads. What do you guys think

That is not a long distance load. Not an unusual y high rate either. Stay local.

It really depends on what you hauling and for whom, staying local can be more profitable, picking up and dropping off everyday but it can also mean longer wait times, missed appointments and lost revenue and more work if doing open deck.
Imo mixing it up is the best option, position yourself for the best market and manage your time to work comfortably while meeting your costumers expectationsfeldsforever Thanks this. -
Seems like anything over 500 miles is a two day transit since ELD's therefore might as well be called a long haul. The rates seldom ever justify the lost extra day(s) you lose.
