I'm driving a 2007 Peterbilt 387. It has a twin turbo Accert motor. What can I do to get a better response when I mash the accelerator. It runs fine in 13, but luges on any size grade. I'm pulling general commodities, so the weight varies. I just need a faster response when I hit the accelerator.

I'll assume you have no idea what the hp/tq the engine is rated at.
feldsforever and AModelCat Thank this. -
Those engines really need a proper tune to wake up, the stock file is lethargic at best. Just make sure everything is running properly, no air leaks in the fuel lines, proper fuel pressure, injectors clean, and actuators working. Sometimes an actuator can die and not throw a code but still put you down on power. Turbo boost on that engine should be around 50 psi stock.

The only good engine CAT ever made was the 3406.

Schlumberger had a few C-13 rated at 430 that wouldn't get out of their own way and drank fuel. With a decent tune im sure it will put a smile on your face then.

Every C15 I've driven (475, 550 & 625) have all ran the exact same and have all been slow to respond when splitting from 18 to 17. There was hardly any throttle response. I'm sorry I don't have advice to give you other than you're definitely not alone with this experience

Is this truck new to you or has performance gone down over time?
What is your boost running at at full pull.
How many miles?
Have you checked out intake and exhaust for leaks?
Have fuel lines been changed? Are they old and possibly collapsing internally?
Has the overhead been run recently?GoneAgain, lester, feldsforever and 1 other person Thank this. -
mudflap77 Thanks this.
