Hi, I am currently enrolled in a CDL training program at my local technical school. Class ends July 2. I made this thread to see if anyone has any experience dealing with obtaining local delivery jobs like Pepsi or Sysco. I had a rear end accident September 2019 I was ticketed for following too close. There were no injuries and the car I hit took no damage. I want to know the odds of getting a local job after completing school. I was pre hired to drive for Werner in February but things happened that were out of my control causing me to delay enrolling into classes. I learned my lesson and from the day of the accident on forward I have become more aware.

Depending on your location; there may be several options for local jobs.
Get all the endorsements to qualify for some of them.
    Where is your location?

    Reek97 Thanks this.

First place to apply with is YRC Freight. Union pay scale and free health insurance.
YRC needs drivers so much that they've started their own cdl schools all over the nation.
There's an opening in Conley for a local driver.

There's probably a dozen jobs available in Atlanta with YRC. Tell them you'll even take a box truck job. The pay is still union scale.

I’m looking forward to a paid workout lol. This definitely gives me hope. Seeing someone who started trucking local is major.

Yep I knew I didn't wanna live in a truck. Most food places your home every day or every other day. The solo run i did was 2x a week to Baltimore. Do half your run take your 10hr break finish it off and come home. The other run i did was a 2 driver run to NYC with 8 stops. About 20-22hr on avg 3 times a week. That paid more than my solo run
