Well, I don't want to be captain hindsight here.....but.....I didn't see any strap protectors in that mess anywhere. Alot of guys don't use them on lumber, but I always do.....you never know. It only takes a couple minutes to toss them up. To each their own though.

The pinching usually has more to do with time than with money.
The truck also had no headache rack. That driver is so lucky to be alive.

Im going to go with bs on it being secured properly. It may have met dot min standards, but for lumber like that, thats never enough.

As for strap failure, anyone want to take bets on straps being rolled up on winches resulting in uv damage?

That was a hard brake issue, look at the lumber. No amount of will stop that

Yeah, alot of guys don't run headache racks for whatever reason. To be quite honest though, most aren't worth a darn anyway. I have a full vault enclosure. That way there are 2 peices of thin aluminum between me and my load......lol. Seriously though, that guy is Hella lucky! It almost wiped the cap clean off the frame.

I disagree with that. If you put straps on each layer, that applies direct pressure. Most guys just throw them over the top though, because it is quicker. Sure the top has direct pressure, however, nothing under it does. I'm not saying he did or didn't, we'll never know. Heck, for all we know he could have had 10 straps on that thing that were all loose and blowing in the wind. Dude is just lucky. Glad he made it out.
