Since we all love to bash T/A, I figured I'd put my two cents in on the condition of their properties. I am not including Petro locations, since they seem to operate as their own separate entity.
My opinion is that T/A's old Rip Griffin locations are in the best condition, followed by the few Boron/Sohio properties. The old Burns Brothers and T/A's 30 or so self-built properties are just average. Last come the Travel Ports and as much as I love Union 76, T/A's vast network of them. Some are okay, while others need to be bulldozed. There are also several T/A properties converted from other independent stops, such as the old Gas City in DeMotte, Indiana, and these all vary depending on their owners.
Overall, am I right? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

What did the Ogallala, Nebraska location use to be? I-80 exit 126...

That place is a complete dump. About the only two things it has going is the bar and Mexican restaurant across the street...

JonJon78, that was an old Union 76. As a kid, we used to stop there on road trips from Colorado to Minnesota. Sad to hear it's one of the bad ones now.

I believe the oldest property TA owns is the one in Wapakoneta, Ohio. That claims to be the first
truck stop on the interstate highway system, so around 1960 or so, I'd guess.

Yeah, I always wondered which Union 76 was the original location. Wapakoneta is likely the oldest T/A, but I don't think it started out as a 76 originally.

You mean the Greater Chicago I-55? That place has come a long way in a few years. Used to be one of the biggest dumps around, but go into the game room or restrooms now and you'll feel like you're in a luxury hotel. Good restaurant too, but you still have to pay for parking.

I haven’t been Driving long enough to know them by any other names but ya, they are all hit n miss in my book. I don’t even want to stop at any of them unless I happen to have stopped there in the past and know it’s decent. My company scheduled our fuel stops so I seem to see more of them than I would prefer.

gotta love the ones where the truck parking is laid out in such a way that 3/4 are blind side backs … which suck after 10+ hours of driving.

I know, I know, “if you was a Real Trucker you could back that trailer blindfolded”. Well, still doesn’t make sense to make 3/4 of your parking spots to be more difficult and more complicated than needed.

anyway, there is a lot of variabilities in T/A
