Some trucking companies won't hire drivers that live in California.

Just another example of government harming the people they purport to help.

Probably because they pay crap wages so they'll hardly get any applicants anyways.

I wonder, if you removed upper management pay scales from the calculations of disparity in pay between the sexes, would the gap be negligible?

When you actually control for everything (years of work experience, same exact job etc etc) the gender pay gap is something closer to 5% or less. The uber study on it a year or two ago was pretty interesting, showed men had about a 2-3% advantage per hour worked and mostly attributable to men being willing to just pick up and go when rates were up (peak/surge pricing) and driving about 5 % faster than women

How is disclosure hurtful? Why should people have to fill out an application and attend an interview just to find out what the job pays?

Northern Nomad and AModelCat Thank this.

Good point. If the pay doesn't meet your expectations then it saves everyone from wasting time.

It would be nice if companies would do this but without govt intervention...we all know when govt gets involved, things don’t go well

Corporations tend to pay based on individual experience, expertise, etc. Stating a fixed salary or wage doesn’t take into consideration the variability in applicants. I do agree that posting a salary range based for a position is a good thing. But why should an employer hire out of a state that places requirements that go against their hiring methodology? There are plenty of other states.
