The only reason I post this accident is because this was from my company.
Accident occurred on 401 ramp to 427 north, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The ramp was a posted 70KMH (43 MPH). The GPS record showed 95KMH (59MPH). This specific ramp claimed many trucks over the years. I never thought it would happen to our company. Driver was given a $500 carless driving ticket. The driver was pulling a load of copper coils, not secured. The load was a switch.
The driver in question has 10 years experience, all with our company. Was fine, had a bruised shoulder but that was it.
It's important never to get complacent. He has never had any tickets and always had clean inspections.

How does a driver of 10 years "forget" to secure a load. Especially after having run loads for 10 years

And driving 50% over the recommended ramp speed ?
tueres a ramp near me Thats had many many roll overs , they have flashing lights and dozens of signs , both overhead and shoulder signs and rumble strips .
Still, about once a month some driver manages to flip over a truck because they were going too fast .mjd4277, Blue jeans, Canadianhauler21 and 1 other person Thank this. -
But he did it a hundred times before and nothing happened.
mjd4277 and Canadianhauler21 Thank this. -
Not to mention he crushed a car too but they were fine. The driver was not fired, rather they plan on putting him as a shunter in our yard now.
It's beyond me that the driver took the ramp at that speed with a 40,000 pound load. I'm honestly without words.mjd4277, Blue jeans, Bud A. and 2 others Thank this. -
If he did that in the other lane he might have rolled right over the barrier.Canadianhauler21, Magoo1968, mjd4277 and 4 others Thank this. -
There's an exit in south Edmonton that I'm suprised I don't see trucks tipping on. A lot of drivers are taking the corner faster in a truck than what I feel comfortable doing in a car.
