The OM appears very much displeased.

This will be my plan in the first year of trucking. 1 week's income for my food for the whole month. 1 week's income for my rent. One week's income for other expenses. 1 week's income will go straight into my savings account.

I don't know if it's so much the flavor of trucking as it is the company itself. It all depends on how the company operates, freight lanes and such. There is potential to make good money in every sector of trucking. I've done well with flatbed, dry van, and reefer companies. To me, it also depends on how flexible a driver is. The OTR drivers that get set in their own ways and have an unwillingness to run when the load dictates will have the most difficult time making money. Sometimes you'll have to run at night, or weekends, or holidays. It's the nature of the beast. The companies that have better reputations won't always be advertised either.

There are companies in each sector that can keep you busy. Make it through your first year and hone your skills, you'll have an entire smorgasbord of companies to pick from
