Greetings...from a former Schneider driver

I can't remember the name of the company, but there is a chemical tanker company out of Georgia or Florida that pays .60 per mile. Think they have a blue on white color scheme.

I am assuming .60 per mile loaded or empty. Another I like on the east coast is Venezia. They haul oil.

And, of course, there is always Trimac.

 

What barn you worked out of with Schneider intermodal? Fairburn?

I wasted two years at Schneider. In the whole time I was only home for 11 days. Had to work every holiday and no vacation pay. The tractor was a stripped version (no APU) with restrictions on idling the main engine. They even gave me crap when I was broke down in Dallas and had to run the engine for 24 hours a day for 3 days waiting to be repaired. Mileage pay was only 32 CPM. Detention time average only $5 after the first two hours.

Went to Averitt Express. Have been here 3 years. My tractor has the best APU (TriPac Evolution) with an 1,800 watt pure sine inverter (so electronics and microwave ovens don't get fried). Most tractors have refrigerators with FREEZERS. We're routed to our home center every Friday evening (Saturday morning at the latest). Several paid holidays a year with two weeks vacation after two years (more later)(one week after a year). Vacation and holiday pay is 450 miles times mileage pay for every day. Mileage pay is 52 CPM to start (two cents added for hazmat, five cents added for flatbed) with 450 mile minimums (example: your trip is 270 miles. You are paid for 450 miles!). Detention time is a flat $20 an hour after two hours. Since the shippers know this, you are rarely held up past two hours. Repairs are paid $20 an hour past two hours. Layover is paid at 450 mile per day minimum. Uniforms are provided with $150 a year for upkeep. There are about a hundred service centers so staying at truck stops is rare. Many of centers have drive thru automatic truck and trailer wash so your rig stays clean almost year round. It's just a wonderful place to work!
