New drive tires

Apparently it’s Goodyear that bought them.

 

Call an actual tire dealer and not the TA fools. They only deal with OTR trucks so it’s obvious they’re only gonna stock 22.5’s. Any place that has a high number of vocational trucks will have a good supply of 24.5’s as thats what they run for the extra ground clearance.

 

Open a Michelin or Bridgestone account and get tires the normal way. Those online places will always be more expensive.
I even buy tires through CR England account. They just find a shop for me, I go there, get tires and England charges my card on file.

If your gonna check truck stops, you might check Bosselmans in Grand Island or tire shops around there. Lots of bullwagons still on 24.5 lo pro and tall. Better yet call Hood's Truckstop just west of Spfld. Mo. Talk to Bill. They stock a bunch of 24.5 tires both high and low end. Their prices are very reasonable. Currently running Michelin XDN2 11r24.5 drives. Bought used truck with them on it. Very impressed. Get around on wet grass and snow better than any lug tire I have been around. Running Yokohama 101zl up front but I have run Yokahama 517 steers as well. The 517 is cheaper and honestly I can't tell any advantage in the 101zl. Bought new trailer last yr. It came with 22.5 tall Bridgestons. Forgot the number but they were a joke. Didn't make it 80k. Put Roadmaster (by Cooper iirc) tall 22.5 on. Have 40k on them in hotter weather and they still look near new. Iirc I gave 2500 for 8 after they(Hood's) gave me 500 trade on my old tires.

 

IF you blow one, just get the cheapest thing you can find and order in what you want to be delivered to your shop "at home"

Hopefully you catch things before they blow or carry a spare. (Im a fan of just grabbing a used steer even for the driveline since i can run that on the trailer when i get it changed out, bonus points for carrying a steer mounted to a rim and also carrying your own jack, cost, 350 lbs... i dont do this but its crossed my mind)
