“Those suspension guages aren’t accurate”

I don't have a gauge in this truck, it has a digital readout of the weight on the drives.
It is right around 2,000 pounds wrong, but it is consistent at that.
If it reads 31,300 I can be pretty sure it is really around 33,300-33,500.

So it is fairly accurate, in its own way.

 

The mouth says whatever it wants. I’ve had drivers say they’ve been driving 20 years too but I see them spinning their tires on the snow turning it into ice. Maybe 20 years below i20.

 

Rumor has it you spin the tires fast enough. The ice melts and eventually you'll hit ground.

That's the rumor. I've never tried it though. lol

 

Yup, I drove powder for a number of years, loading mostly off the rail, used to get the first load loaded and scaled then adjust the mud flaps to be about 1/4 inch off the ground, or use a stick cut to go between the frame and the bottom of the axle. thank God when Air Bags were added, then I added a gauge to the rear axle of each trailer. 79000 to 79500 every time off the 10 dollar air gauge.

 

I carry a bag of Kitty Litter from Tractor Supply, 10 bucks or so. works everytime.

 

I just figure 8500 gallons of Jet fuel equals 55,250 pounds, which puts my gross weight at 78900 lbs.

 

Should be 57800 but close enough for this neighborhood. I would still weigh it if its close to 80000. Rather safe than sorry.

 

I'd like to know what truck and 8500 gallon trailer he drives to weight 22k empty.

 

Usually the spider gears exit the chat before that happens lol.

 

Day cab Mack and a single hole Custom or a Hiel trailer, most are 9000 gallon capacity.
