Driver Trainer thoughts on trainee with bladder and CPAP issues?

I second this, regardless if where the roads take you, there's enough wisdom and BS here to keep coming back.

 

I was a trainer many years ago.

You need to make darn sure you tell your trainer BEFORE you get on his/her truck. That way, they can decide whether or not they want to deal with it. Otherwise, you may just find yourself getting booted off the truck. Most probably won’t care, but some will care and they will not want that noisy thing taking up an inverter spot.

I kicked a guy off my truck two days after he got on because I couldn’t deal with that thing making racket all night. Had I known before hand he had that thing, I’d have never let him on my truck.

As far as the diaper thing, or whatever you do with that, I wouldn’t care as long as you could drive without having to swing the left door open every hour, and I didn’t hear it, see it or smell it.

Now Super Trucker Trainee (STT for short) is the one who #### on my bed and the drivers seat.

Hey OP, you’re doing right. Tell them, and remind them, keep a sense of humor about it, and you’ll do great. Just get through training, and your first year and then the real job starts. Best of luck.

 

I understand what your concerns are but both issues are not issues because they are medical conditions that are covered by privacy and discrimination laws.

that said, wonder if you are male or female and have taken precautions for mitigating leakage and other related issues?

I have a clean truck policy and have a few drivers past and present who have the same issues with bladder control, they are helped by the company buying slip covers for the bed and absorbing mats for the bunks. One of them (male) went to use what is called a stadium buddy and has had success with that for two years now.

 

In this day & age your conditions seem minor and I doubt if a trainer will have any problems with them. Now if you suffered from night terrors and woke up screaming several times a night, or had projectile diarrhea while you slept, then there might be a problem.

 

The screaming was me with CR England. Woke up the whole dorm. Didnt know I was screaming. Yup the trainer was that interesting

 

I had a trainee with the same issues, which wasn't an issue with me. I am back home every night and don't train anymore, but if the trainer does make it an issue, pick up the phone and ask for another trainer. Some people have hangups, some of us don't.
