My husband just started driving for Hogan driving a dedicated route, delivering for dollar tree. On the passenger permit it says I can't ride with him for the first 3 months and I can't help unload the trailer. Well I can't just sit in here while he unloads I'm the heat. I was wondering if there was a way around this. Like could I be put on the payroll so I could legally help or what? Also we moved over to this company from another with much looser passenger regulations and we literally lived in that truck, so until I can join him, I'm homeless. Any way around this? Of we explain our situation could they make an exception?

Lots of insurance regulations these days. It’s great that you want to help, but it would be too much of a liability for the company for you to handle the freight.

Plenty of other ways you could help though... help with with keeping truck clean and organized, help with paperwork, help with trip planning, etc.

You should have posed these questions to Hogan before he started working for them, as opposed to asking several thousand strangers on an internet forum.

You will have to wait for the 3 months. OR, ride low in the sleeper so as not to be seen. I used to take wives on board without permission, never had a problem until one day dispatch told me to pick up a stranded driver and that was a problem.

It’s always good to ask questions before taking the job. About all you can do now is change companies or make the best of it. Nothing says you have to sit in the truck while he unloads. That would be a good time to get out and get the legs moving.

She hasn't posted again; just that one post.
I'm wondering why he would take a job where his wife can't ride along from day one, especially since she's homeless now.

Why take a job if the lady friend can’t ride with from day one?
Also why tf would they make an experienced driver wait to have a passenger?
I had my gf ride along with me when I was brand new and…..well that was an unneeded distraction but I survived

I take my GF with on the weekends .. she's good help plus she like to flip off Swift drivers .. its great cause she likes to ride low and dirty in the seat so all they see is blond hair and big blue eyes and a middle finger rolling by at 80 mph
Now I tell her to flip off Hogan trucks too
