Good points, but if you think 4 wheelers are ever going to be in the same caliber as professional truck drivers, you're mistaken. Okay, forget who was legally at fault for a minute, and must remember, driving is NOT their job. Driving to many involves 45 minutes a day, and a truck drivers life, they have no idea. They are on the phone, they are lost, they are afraid, all these factors add up to a dangerous situation, yet they are blissfully unaware they are even causing a problem. It's why I made a career out of trying to outguess what they were doing to do, and I must have done something right. You can argue all day who was at fault,, and I'm sure they will, but a little common sense, like staying as far away as possible from 4 wheelers, would have prevented this whole thing. Impaired/distracted 4 wheelers are, to me, the worst thing that could happen to a truck drivers life, and nothing is being done and it certainly won't change anytime soon. The truck driver should have been on their toes.

When it’s all said and done had the 4 wheelers used common sense and GONE TO A LEGAL EXIT to SAFELY TURN AROUND instead of doing an illegal U-Turn that was CLEARLY MARKED as such the accident wouldn’t have happened-full stop.
You’re still trying to pin the accident on the truck driver and the evidence shows the 4 wheelers are responsible.
As I’ve said previously driving is a privilege, not a right. And with said privilege you’re expected to know (and obey) the rules of the road(including paying attention to signs-BASIC STUFF that they taught in DRIVERS EDUCATION CLASSES).I should know because before I was a truck driver driving WAS part of my job(worked at numerous auto dealerships as a car detailer, sales and auto parts driver-a job that definitely wasn’t taken lightly given the vehicles involved). Even then I knew better than to do stupid **** that you see on the roads!

Evidently you never hve had someone just pull out in front of you..not to mention.. can you explain to me with any logical reasoning how to trucker could be at fault? Considering the two 4 wheelers performed an illegal U-turn in the middle of the interstate…That in itself will put them 100% at fault

Would be nice if they slapped an attempted murder charge on her for the truck drivers sake. Set a precedent.

I think it's about time we up'd insurance requirements on 4-wheelers to 2 million...

Now you know they would actually need to have insurance for that to work. We being so close to the southern border know that ain’t gonna happen.

I laugh when people say to be more careful from midnight to 4am because of the drunk drivers. In South Texas, it's 24/7. If that guy's swerving, he's probably drunk.

    Trucker61016 and PacoTaco Thank this.

A few things I learned years ago being native to Military City USA as they like to call it are.
    1) always been lots of out of staters with horrible driving habits PCS’d at the bases here.
    2) be very afraid and keep distance from anyone with a DV on their Texas license plate. They are either on mind altering prescription drugs or just plain pissed off at the world around them.
Most DV plated vehicles in Texas will make a drunk look like a pro.

Now that I mentioned this you will quicky take notice that it is true anytime you are running around this area. Lol!

Those DV plated vehicles are usually going 50 mph in the middle lane too.

Yep, in over 3 million miles I was all alone on sunny interstates,,,come on, give me a little credit. I can't seem to get my point across, FORGET who was at fault. I'm saying for the 3rd time, a good truck driver should see that coming. Truck drivers today are distracted and operate trucks that feel like big cars, and it's easy to forget it's limits. They overdrive them. You can bet, this truck driver, had they not hit this 4 wheeler, most assuredly would have been in the next winter pileup.
I've been in this situation, and while the 4 wheeler I hit didn't have her vehicle under control either, she was charged with only 25% at fault, the semi that rear ended her,( she hit the brakes in a construction zone, the truck rear ended her, and spun her sideways in front of me and I T-boned her) ended up 65% at fault, and I got 10% for just being there. It went to jury, and juries don't go easy on truck drivers. It was the only accident I was ever in, like my boss said at the time" you are now an experienced truck driver, you know what can happen". It taught me a valuable lesson, and I guarantee, it will never happen again to this truck driver, because now THEY know what can happen. Too bad it's too late for the 4 wheeler. Yeah, it's her fault. Make sure to mention that at the funeral to her family. I swear, some of you have gotten pretty cold.
