Walmart will never hire any driver with less that 3 years experience. And usually the majority of the time other drivers with more than 5 years experience will get the job before anyone else. The applicants that get referred by current Walmart drivers will go to the front of the line. If you have accidents or incidents on your record don’t bother applying. I don’t know any other Walmart driver making less than 90k, if they are making less it must be because they suck and Walmart is trying to make them quit. Yes over the past few years, pay has degraded for new hires but not to the point where it still isnt far more than the industry standard. I’ve been driving for Walmart for over 15 years, never been disappointed other than having to deal with outside carriers(USXpress, Swift, Knight, Schneider, Marten, Epes, and many others) screwing equipment up and their drivers are just plain stupid.

What’s your point? I agree with most of Lunatic Fringe’s comments. I’m a current Walmart driver and have been for the past 20 years, and will not get into the details of what Walmart requires of a prospective driver, other than it’s all about who you know in addition to their minimum requirements. If a current driver isn’t referring you, forget about applying.

I applied at Walmart over 15 years ago, they had a waiting list. Recently and somehow they found my new number and asked if I'm looking. So maybe they will soon hire noobies.

I guess I just took offense to his comment about swallowing your pride and donning a blue vest. When I was hired almost 28 years ago it was the job most drivers longed for.

I'm guessing the blue vest comment was an observation about store associates, not drivers.

. Could be but I have gotten to know a lot of good people over the years that are proud of the job they have at Walmart.

Yeah, at least they are working and not sitting at home drawing a check that our taxes pay for.

They are starting a CDL driving school at my DC to train new drivers. The experienced drivers are also allowed to attend it to learn the "Walmart way" . And no I'm not joking.

If that’s true, it’s amazing to see how far their standards have fallen in the last several years…
