Can confirm. No cameras, driver facing or otherwise here. I have no problem with the outward facing one's.

If I had to choose, I would take a driver facing camera over the lane departure/following distance radar thingy.

Drove a loaner truck that had all that stuff on it and I nearly lost the will to live.

I've had driver facing camera in every other company truck before Indian River and I had no problems with them, but then I don't do anything behind the wheel that I shouldn't. Sysco would fire you automatically if they saw you even touch your phone, no Bluetooth use either.

I think Walmart has that policy, that's why I stay away. Volvos has the worse radar proximity thing. It is so loud..

I wonder how those particular firings affect one's hiring at another company? It's one thing to get a ticket from a LE agency and get fired over a cellphone violation. But when it's an internal thing like company safety viewing camera footage that leads to a firing? Unless there was an accident, I'd like to imagine ones chances are the same when it comes to driving elsewhere after getting fired over something like cell usage alone caught on camera.

I doubt they would tell any prospective company why or even if you were fired.

I have worked for very large corporations before and they are so sensitive to being sued and bad publicity that they would only give a hire date and an end date. They would never elaborate on whether you quit, got fired or retired. No chance of getting anyone there to give a reference either. Any such calls to a manager would get routed to HR who would only confirm how long you worked there.

I suspect most large companies are like that. They have nothing to gain by divulging personal info of a former employee.

That's what I suspected. I mean after I had that rollover in 2007, quite hard to hide/deny that. But the two other firings since then that didn't involve a crash were pretty easy to keep hidden.

You're operating a motor vehicle with glass windows and a glass windshield on public roadways with telematics tracking your location, speed, RPM, and dozens of other data points in real time, but you think not having a camera will give you some measure of privacy?
