ABF tried to put cameras in trucks but they have tape over them after the Union said no to driver facing cameras. I believe SAIA only uses the driver facing cameras in the event of an accident or hard braking but you would need to hear that from someone that works there.

Almost all of them have forward facing cameras. Not sure about DHE, and XPO has both road and driver facing.

Old Dominion has road facing cameras without audio. New policy, they're only installed on incoming new trucks.

I’ve heard the older trucks will be retrofitted with them in the coming months.

I can believe it. That’s what they did with ours when we got road facing cams.

SAIA has forward and driver facing as stated. Our cameras only record when triggered. Triggering events are excessive speed (13 mph over limit), hitting something or something hitting you, hard braking, roll stability warning. The cameras in the 13-18 models were very sensitive and hitting pot holes or backing under your trailer would set them off. 19 and newer trucking rarely go off.

Ward has both and their cameras all always recording read an article about how they have weekly driver competitions to see who drove the safest that week. Screw that!

I’m an LTL driver though I’d rather not say what company. They started putting driver facing cameras in a few of our trucks and drivers quit. So they’ve stopped for now with the labor shortage. But I believe once the labor shortage is over they’ll go ahead with their plan. Since I’m retired Air Force and have a pension, my plan is to screw with them mercilessly by putting tape over the camera, they’ll have microphones too, and I’m gonna crank up some death metal with choice lyrics for them.
