Is that a windy area ..?

I’ve never been west of Kansas City with a rig

It can be, though not like the area surrounding Elk. I still think that area is going to be where my headstone ends up being.

The sisters themselves are rarely windy enough to be a problem... But a few miles east of there in the Lyman area it can get pretty bad.

But as @SoulScream84 said, Elk Mtn. is the really bad spot in WY. Slick as snot on a door knob, blowing and drifting snow, and 70+ mph side winds are not uncommon.

Worst winter I experienced in WY was my first year OTR. I wemtbover Elk twice that year in blizzards.

    A tad over 7K.
Came through Elk Mountain late last Fall heading east with an empty tanker. Felt the rig go a little sideways on me. Then again. That's when I decided to take a nap.

Couldn’t make it by 1630, nowhere really nice to stop, all dirt lots except for a possible spot at Thayer/ Mammoth Springs on the hill.
And I’m a firm believer if your going to be late, do it right, I’m 101 miles out, stopped at Willow Springs at the Loves!!
And I beat the lady at the register, walked in and quickly said, “Welcome to Loves!!!”
    Got a smirk anyways.
