W/S does not have training school anymore to the best of my knowledge. 10 days orientation/training then you are on your own...

I need to retract my last post. W/S does have a school. I was misinformed.

Jester, where did you get your info that they do have an operating school? Because as of last week to the best of my knowledge they had "suspended" their 30 day training school. I got a call a week and a half ago from one of the management types there at WS and they informed me that the school had been put on hold for economic reasons.....Hopefully that has changed. I will try to find out on Monday and see what's going on there

I'm pretty sure I was told that they've done this in the past during hard times, but always resume training once things pickup. I think W/S KNOWS they have top notch training and I don't think they'd throw that all away because of a single downturn in the economy. It happens every 10 years or so and I'm hopeful, it'll pick back up again.
How's everyone been? -

My daughter use to live in Torrance. When I had loads down to SFS I would bobtail to the Kmart parking lot on Hawthorn near 190th. It was always empty. There was an RV that was always there as well as other trucks.
I was only parked there for a couple of hours while we went to dinner, but I never had any issues parking there. You are close enough to the La Mirada shop/drivers lounge that you can leave your truck here for any home time. -

You would need to be very careful taking your truck to your home if you live in a residential area. Weight restricted roads, low wires and trees ect. You might be better off bringing your stuff to the shop in La Mirada and do what you need to do. I was just letting SBD know that I had parked there for a couple of hours without any problems. You will find that when you come into the greater LA area that you will deliver in the morning and get your next load out after midnight when the trailers get loaded. That's not ALWAYS the case, however it does happen a lot.
